Things I Learned at Sundance Day 2
-Salt Lake City is full of grown up contestants from Toddlers and Tiaras
-There is a Mormon sculpture garden, where the founder of the religion is represented as a sphinx
-Mormons believe Jesus lives on planet Kolob
-The Great Salt Lake rather large and salty
-Snow. Holy crap, snow.
-Even one of the largest film festivals in the world, hosted in a ski resort town, can still be crippled by massive amounts of snow.
-Utah runs the liquor stores.
-Liquor is expensive.
-Tim & Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie is exactly as wrong in all the wrong ways as you’d expect. Fans will love it, others not so much. The best part was the avalanche of movie goers walking out halfway through.
-Oh, and walking out is kind of a “thing” at film festivals. I guess it’s because of the passes.
-Modern Family’s Ty Burell (Phil Dunphy) owns a bar in SLC called Bar X. It’s a classic cocktail joint that’s still pretty good, despite Utah’s antiquated liquor laws.
-Ty Burell is a lot skinnier and shorter that I thought.
-Hollywood people are all way shorter and thinner in person than on the screen.
-Except Sigourney Weaver. She’s like, real people size.
